My deeply beloved cat child 1978-1995

An Episode From the Epic Mahabharata

As retold by my friend and animal communicator colleague Sam Louie

Queen Draupadi and the Pandava brothers went on a pilgrimage up the heights on the Himalayas to the abode of God. On the way, the queen and four of the brothers died: they were not sufficiently pure to be able to enter heaven in their human bodies. Only Yudhisthira, the royal saint, journeyed on, accompanied by his faithful dog.

When they reached heaven, Indra, the king of gods, told him that the dog could not come in. Yudhisthira replied that, if this was so, he would stay outside heaven too; for he could not bring himself to desert any creature which loved and trusted him and wished for his protection. Finally, after a long argument, Indra rewarded the man's dedication to his dog and admitted both of them into heaven. At this point the dog was revealed as Dharma himself, the path of spirituality.

Many of us already know this--that loving animals can be a path to God. I have been privileged to talk with many animals and their people near the time of animals' deaths and after their deaths, and wanted to create a sacred space to honor them here. Though there are many wonderful pet loss web sites I recommend where memorials can be posted for animals, this is a special place for some of the animals I have been blessed to come to know personally through work with my human clients.

If you have been a client of mine and would like to have a memorial of any of your animals included here, please e-mail the information and we'll be delighted to post it here.

Namaste'

Beloved companion of Jill Christopher

A little orphan labeled as “too old and too ugly” to be adopted – had the ability to love unconditionally.

Sweet Princess – for the times I ignored you, for the times I was away – how I wish I could have back even one minute of that time. I thought I had rescued you when the truth is that you are the one who saved me. I would trade the rest of my life on earth just to be with you again. But just as it was your time to go, I guess my job is to stay – for now. Look for me, as I look for you in every moment of every day –

All my beautiful little girl asked for was some food, and my lap to sleep in. In return she gave me all the love in her heart. When she grew older and couldn't jump very easily, she would reach up her arms to me, begging to be picked up and held close for a long long time. Her purrs were unceasing - even in her sleep when I would touch her. How I wish I could hear her again.

A promise to my beloved Cecily Jane:

I will miss you always.
I will love you forever.
Forever and always
My baby you'll be.

Longtime friend of Jim Babb

Left behind, wild child on my doorstep, so long ago. Something happened between us that day, binding our fates.

You watched me struggle to piece together my own life, while you lived out yours, entire: Hunting, fishing, investigating everything. Searching for joy, lazing in the sun.

Eyes barely open, you already knew how to live! I should have paid more attention.

Thank you for staying by my side, until I finally found the right path. I won't forget.

Jim

Treasured companion of Yvonne Lenhart

We all miss you sweet Adrian.
Jules seems lost without you.
You were and are so very special.
I'll miss telling you to "get the ball" before you go to bed at night and the way you always used to hide behind the pillows.
You have left so many wonderful memories.
Thank you so much my sweet girl.

Now you are free.
You will be in our hearts forever.

Baby Boo

A big part of me died the day you died, but I believe that your soul lives on. And I hope that you are sitting on my shoulder with Adrian, so we can all be together until Mommy can join you in the afterlife. And if you have moved on to be reborn, please come back to me. Mommy loves you soooooo much, Don't ever forget.

I am so sorry I didn't recognize that you were sick.
If only you could have told me.
I would have done anything for you Whit.
Mommy is burying you with your birdy buddy because I know how much you loved him.

I love you sweet babboo.
You will live in my heart forever.

Misha

I am the Queen of all cats, of all time, and am now learning to be humble. ~ Misha

Misha was and is a light being of incredible power. We are life partners, in this life and in many others before this. It is a partnership of equals with the common goal to evolve to our highest selves. We helped each other thru many difficulties in this life and are still working together now. She is growing and so am I. I start each day with her in my thoughts and her blessing in mine. I love her and she has taught me so much about unconditional love. She is always here for me and I am always here for her. With Teresa's help we "talk" every few months. She brings so much love and information to me. I can't explain to most people what it is like to be so loved and respected. I miss the physical body of her, but I am never alone. She is with me always. We will be together again soon...

You see true love never dies.

Beloved cat of Diane and Bob Wilson, Pacific Grove, California

We will love him forever. He was our first cat, and perfect in every way. He was the light of our life - beautiful, graceful, affectionate, funny, often downright silly, and the reason for all the cats who came since. But we shall never see his like again.

Chloe

2005

Precious life-partner of Diane Wilson, Pacific Grove, California

She and I were sisters, best friends, and soulmates who understood each other and respected each other as equals. Her dignity and wisdom were awe-inspiring, and her zany sense of humor never failed to force me out of a bad mood. Her incredible beauty and grace amazed me anew each day, and I never took her love for granted. I count the days until I can be with her again.

To My Chloe —

You are the light of my life
and the love of my life.
You are the music in my heart
and my heart's darling

Gentle Spirit

Let thoughts of peace waft softly through our hearts
Let the light of our candles bring gentle memories of our love
Let the glow of love guide our days, in all our moments.

As we cry,
As we smile,
As we walk on,
As we carry within us the legacy of love we received;

Knowing the love we gave,
Living in the presence of their spirit

With us -

wherever we go,
however we are,
at dawn and at dusk
and the deep hours of the night.

With thank-full hearts--

Amen! Shalom!

In gratitude for the gift of Purr boy
